George Grotefend Scholarship

 

Portrait of Dr. George GrotefendDr. George Grotefend was a dentist and a member of a prominent Shasta County pioneer family. During his lifetime, he involved himself with ranching and mining in addition to running a very busy, lucrative dental practice. Upon his death, the bulk of his estate was put into a trust, the interest of which is issued to provide scholarships to deserving high school graduates from Shasta County in Northern California.

Applications for four-year scholarships are accepted through local high schools from students who attended all four years of high school in Shasta County.  Please check with your high school counselor for more information, application forms, and application deadlines.

Applications for single year renewable scholarships will be accepted for the 2010-11 school year from returning students who recieved awards in the 2009-10 year and graduated high school in 2008-09 or prior.  An application form will be mailed to these applicants with their 2009-10 spring payment.  These applications are due April 20, 2010.
