The Shasta County Office of Education Transportation Department provides school bus service to a variety of programs within the county. The County Office operates a fleet of school buses to transport students of all ages with special needs and alternative education programs. These students attend programs operated by the County Office of Education and programs operated by the school districts in Shasta County. In addition we operate through contracts, transportation services for Redding Elementary School District, French Gulch/Whiskeytown Elementary School District, and Anderson Union High School District.
The Shasta County Office of Education operates a total of twenty-nine school buses for Special Education and Alternative Education transportation. SCOE operates a total of thirteen school buses for Redding Elementary School District to serve the seven local elementary schools. Sixteen school buses are operated for Anderson Union High School District to serve two high schools, one charter high school and various other satellite programs. One bus serves French Gulch/Whiskeytown Elementary School District. This is a total of fifty-nine school buses including standby buses. SCOE employs a total of sixty-four commercial drivers; sixty of them are school bus drivers.
Safety is our number one priority. With over one million miles traveled annually, the County Office school bus drivers maintain an excellent safety record. With five State Certified School Bus Instructors on staff, we are able to provide ongoing training opportunities for our school bus drivers and attendants. Training is also available for drivers from other districts through our renewal classroom training and contracts with the districts.
